Aging In Community (AIC) is an Elder and Caregiver Resource Center, providing aging, caregiver, and end of life education and advocacy to Greenwich residents offering improved access to care, community connection for increased well-being and reduced isolation. AIC targets local gaps in social and wellness services and structures to support older adults in Greenwich.  

AIC serves residents over the age of 60 who have social challenges to remain in their home or community due to normal aging progression or changes in health, and to caregivers providing informal care to residents over the age of 60.

AIC was launched in 2024 by Barbara Price who fills the roles of director, aging and health care advocate, and program facilitator.

AIC is currently:

• Providing pro bono telephone consultation for older adults, caregivers and families seeking care/resources

• Offering monthly library programs on topics of relevance to seniors

• Offering monthly caregiver support sessions

• Making home visits for needs assessment and referrals

• Hosting hospice volunteer training

• Pairing seniors with help at home

• Member of Greenwich Town Senior Committee

• Member of Long Term Care Council for Washington, Warren, and Hamilton Counties

• At large member for Washington County Aging Advisory Council

• Establishing an office in the town of Greenwich Building at 2 Academy Street

• Creating a donation-based medical and caregiver supply pantry, free to residents.

In development:

• Offering a second monthly caregiver support session

• Developing a community palliative care program

• Partnership with Washington County Office For Aging

• Establishing a training process for Senior Life Transitions using the model developed by Saratoga Senior Center

• Fundraising

• Expanding community volunteering through skills training

• Establishing a formal network of county agencies, community-based organizations, and care providing professionals
